General: Puerto Adventuras is a gated and secure community, with a golf course, marina and a lovely white sandy beach. You will also experience dolphins and manatees swimming freely next to the restaurants, bars and shops that make up this small town.

Language: The local people are extremely friendly and speak excellent English, but native tongue is Spanish.

Currency: Mexican Peso. It's best to bring US dollar travellers cheques, although US bills can also be used. Change will be given in Pesos.

Shopping: There is a wide range of gift shops along with a couple of small convenience stores and also a chemist and internet cafe. However, if you are considering self-catering, we found it cheaper to get a taxi to Playa del Carmen and shop at the hypermarket where you will find virtually everything you need.

Local Travel: The best way to travel is to use the local taxis or buses, as they are licensed, clean, reliable and very cheap. If you want to hire a car, then Avis and SIXT have a wide selection and have representatives based with the local hotels in Puerto Aventuras.
